Endings for -ar verbs: 
-é,                   -amos
-aste
-ó                    -aron


Preterit tense notes for REGULAR -ER and -IR verbs.
Endings for -er and -ir verbs:
-í                       -imos
-iste
-ió                    -ieron


Verbs whose infinitive ends in -car, -gar, and -zar have a spelling change in the first person singular of the preterit:

buscar:  look for   busqué

pagar:  pay   pagué

empezar:  begin   empecé
